Geothermal energy
Savvy homeowners choose geothermal energy, the most efficient heating and cooling method in the world. While outdoor temperatures fluctuate with the seasons, underground temperatures remain constant and moderate. Geothermal energy uses this free solar energy stored in the ground: in winter, it draws heat to transfer it to the home, while in summer it extracts heat from the home and returns it to the ground. Environmentally friendly, geothermal energy draws on a renewable source and thus reduces the use of fossil fuels, a clever solution for reducing global warming and protecting our environment.
Vertical loop
The vertical loop is the best solution for medium-sized lots. Holes are drilled into the ground to insert two lengths of pipe joined by a U-shaped fitting.
Horizontal loop
Horizontal loops are used when there is suitable land available. One or more trenches are dug into the ground using a backhoe or excavator. Polyethylene pipes are laid in them and the trenches are then filled back in.
Pond loop
This type of loop is suitable when the home is located near a body of water of sufficient size. A series of coils is installed at the bottom of the body of water, connected to the supply and return piping leading to the home.
Open loop
The open loop is used when there is an abundant source of quality well water. The well must provide enough capacity to supply both domestic water and the needs of the geothermal system.
